Our Ministry

Our two prominent passions in life are 'Christ' and 'Coffee' and the ability to merge these two aspects is our motive in creating 'Bean Served'. Our aim is to provide a quality coffee service for Church events.

We consider that our gifts of making coffee are useless if not combined with our desire to see people come to, and grow in, Christ. Therefore, our primary purpose is to provide fine espresso coffee for: The encouragement of Church families, the aiding of Gospel communication and community outreach, and the support of Link Missionaries.

Winmalee Preschool

We recently provided coffee for an event, which was run by Winmalee Community Preschool. It was fun for me, as i used to attend this institution when i was young. I had a strange feeling that we were making our coffee in what used to be a toilet training room. luckily the fit-out had changed since then.

The night was a great experience. 100% women, which is why we were probably locked away in another room (or it could be because of the noise we were making). Dave and I enjoyed getting the machines out again and hope that it will lead to more events in the near future.

Carols Service

Last Friday night we made coffee for the Valley Heights Community Church Christmas Carols service at Blue Mountains Grammar school (Valley Heights). There was well over a hundred people there and we had our bench warming super sub Tim, filling in for Dave who was unable to be there. It was great working with Tim and if I assume correctly, he enjoyed being part of the action.
One thing we notice about providing coffee and drinks for events is that we can never predict what kind of drinks we will make and how many people will feel like drinking. On the one hand the drinks were free, so we assumed that people would take advantage of that but on the other hand it was a warm evening and so people may not want a hot drink. We had to consider the amount of kids who would be at this event and that this might mean more hot Chocolates then coffees. there are so many variables to take into account and when you buy coffee, milk, and drinking chocolate for an event you need to make sure you are covered for all eventualities.
As it turned out we mad drinks for about 40 minutes and pumped out just over 80 drinks, not a bad effort for our 4th event. most drinks turned out to be hot chocolates, in fact we made 4 decaf drinks which almost made buying a whole bag pointless. we had two complete bags of coffee untouched. Some milk was also left over. It was definitely an eye opener. I try to keep a good record of how an event goes (i.e. what kind of drinks we make, how many we make, how many people were at the event etc) but Friday night just proved one thing to me... we will never be able to predict events.

Concerning the Carols service, by all reports it went well. Many parents from the school were there (out numbering the church members). they all had an opportunity to hear that Jesus is the real reason for the season, a message which i think is comforting to a world that saturates December with a push for materialism. Our prayer is that kids and parents alike will have there hearts changed for Christ over Christmas. While the Carols services included the singing of many songs the real purpose of the evening was to share the good news of Jesus Christ to all. We were greatly appreciative that we could be part of such an event and hope to do many more in the years to come.

Our New Ministry

Hi! We've started up a coffee ministry. We are enthusiastic about God and coffee, so we thought we'd put the two together in our Barista ministry. We really enjoy making top-quality coffee for people, so if you're organising an event, party or gathering, let us know.
